Product description:
A serene and evocative landscape view titled “Wallingford”, showing the River Thames with its stone bridge, grazing cattle, resting figures and soft rural distance. Originally drawn as part of A History of the River Thames (1793) — one of the most celebrated illustrated river landscape series of the late Georgian period. The plate was engraved by Joseph Constantine Stadler (1780s–1820s).
This example is a hand-coloured etching and aquatint, lending it warmth, subtle tonal shifts and a delightful sense of English pastoral calm. The artwork is mounted in an antique black and gold beaded wood frame with original glass — characterful, historical, and beautifully fitting to the subject.
A gentle, classic landscape ideal for hallways, libraries, sitting rooms or as part of a curated gallery wall.
