Vintage Stuart Bass Blackbird & Foliage Pie Funnel, Devon Studio Pottery

A bell shaped funnel decorated with a blackbird and green foliage.

This vintage Stuart Bass pie funnel combines a traditional baking form with decoration drawn from the natural world. The rounded ceramic body provides space for the bird and leafy details, giving this practical object the presence of a small piece of illustrated pottery.

Handcrafted in Devon, it carries the ‘S Bass England’ stamp. Originally designed to release steam from beneath a pie crust, it brings together useful design and the individual character of studio ceramics.

Display it beside plain mixing bowls or contemporary tableware, where the decoration can stand out. It also pairs well with botanical books and wooden utensils on an open kitchen shelf.

A distinctive piece of British studio pottery and a thoughtful gift for someone who enjoys birds, baking or handmade ceramics.
