A beautifully nostalgic miniature Star Yachts pond yacht in apple green painted wood, measuring just 13 cm and offering a rare glimpse into the world of traditional British toy boats.
There is something wonderfully evocative about a little pond yacht, bringing back memories of summer afternoons, park ponds and the simple pleasure of watching a beautifully made wooden boat catch the breeze. Measuring just over 12 cm, or around 5 inches, this is the No. 0 model, the smallest standard yacht made by Star Yachts. The tiny scale is part of its appeal, with these miniature versions produced in much smaller numbers than the larger pond yachts. Its compact proportions also give it a lovely presence without requiring the space of a full sized model.
The apple green painted hull has retained its original colour beautifully, complemented by the removable sail and the Star Yachts transfer detail to the deck. Star Yachts of Birkenhead, also known as Star Productions, holds a special place in British toy making history. Founded in 1919 by Belgian refugee Franz Marie Denye, the company grew from his experience working in the Liverpool dockyards and became renowned for its wooden pond yachts. Every Star Yacht was built with a weighted metal keel, meaning these were genuine sailing toys designed to be enjoyed on the water rather than simply admired on a shelf.
The company remained a family business for more than 70 years, finally closing in 1990. This little No. 0 yacht therefore carries not only the charm of a vintage toy, but a fascinating connection to the industrial and maritime heritage of Birkenhead and the Mersey.

Good vintage condition with lovely original green paint and clear Star Yachts deck detail. The original small wire bowsprit is missing from the front of the boat. Part of the deck transfer has rubbed away and there is light age related wear consistent with its history and years of play. Please refer to the photographs for further detail.
