Vintage Beswick Lady Mouse Beatrix Potter Figurine BP 3a Brown Line

A beautifully detailed Beswick Lady Mouse, bringing one of Beatrix Potter’s much loved characters to life with the gentle charm and craftsmanship of vintage English ceramics.

Originally modelled by Arthur Gredington and first introduced in 1950, Lady Mouse was produced by Beswick England as part of its celebrated Beatrix Potter collection. Inspired by the character from The Tailor of Gloucester, she is beautifully dressed in a flowing white gown with delicate yellow trim, soft blue polka dot sleeves and an elaborate bonnet highlighted with blue and purple tones.

The careful painting and expressive detail capture the warmth of Beatrix Potter’s original illustrations, while the glazed ceramic finish reflects the craftsmanship for which Beswick became so highly regarded.

This example dates from the 1970s and carries the BP 3a Brown Line backstamp, placing it within one of Beswick’s later production periods. It also has the artist’s mark 68 incorporated into the base stamp, a charming detail that adds another little piece of history to the figure and its production.

Standing at 9.5 cm tall, Lady Mouse has a lovely presence despite her petite size. Her carefully painted decoration and distinctive bonnet make her particularly appealing displayed amongst vintage books, ceramics and other collected pieces on a bookshelf or cabinet.

A lovely addition to a Beswick or Beatrix Potter collection, and a beautifully preserved example of British ceramic craftsmanship inspired by one of Beatrix Potter’s much loved storybook characters.

Condition
