A glossy blackbird perched on a textured brown log, with its beak raised.
This mid century Artone Pottery pie bird combines a familiar baking tool with a small wildlife scene. The smooth black bird contrasts with the textured log beneath it, giving the ceramic form detail from several angles.
Made in England, it was designed to release steam from beneath a pie crust. The raised beak forms part of its practical design while giving the bird an expressive pose.
Display it beside contemporary stoneware and wooden utensils, where the contrasting surfaces can stand out. It also works alongside botanical books or other animal ceramics on an open kitchen shelf.
A distinctive piece of British kitchenalia and a thoughtful vintage gift for someone who enjoys birds or baking.
