A streamlined silhouette and an open yellow beak, captured in glossy black ceramic.
This 1950s pie bird combines a smooth body with defined wing details and a contrasting yellow beak. Its simple outline gives the familiar kitchen tool a sculptural quality, reflecting the playful side of mid century homewares.
Originally designed to let steam escape through a pie crust, the hollow ceramic form brought an animal character to everyday baking. Today, its shape and glossy finish make it an appealing detail for a kitchen display.
Place it beside cookbooks and plain mixing bowls, or group it with pie birds of different shapes. The black and yellow colouring adds definition among pale ceramics and wooden utensils.
A small piece of 1950s kitchenalia and a thoughtful vintage gift for a baker.
