Familiar nursery characters decorating a tea table in miniature.
This nine piece ceramic tea set dates from the 1940s and includes a miniature teapot, cups, saucers, milk jug and sugar bowl. Transfer printed illustrations bring together storybook characters including Little Bo Peep, Mother Goose and Little Red Riding Hood.
Made in England for childhood tea parties, the set recreates everyday tableware on a small scale. The illustrated scenes invite a closer look, while light wear and crazing reflect its years of use.
Arrange the pieces together on a kitchen dresser or cabinet shelf, where their proportions can be appreciated beside full sized pottery. Paired with illustrated books or a contemporary print, they bring a nostalgic detail to a modern display.
A small piece of childhood history for someone drawn to miniature objects and traditional illustration.
