Small Vintage Black Ceramic Pie Bird with Yellow Beak, 6 cm

A glossy black bird with a yellow beak, standing just 6 cm tall.

This small vintage ceramic pie bird combines a compact shape with a bright contrasting beak and expressive eyes. The gloss glaze catches the light, giving definition to an everyday baking accessory.

Traditionally placed inside a pie to allow steam to escape through the pastry, pie birds brought an animal form to a practical kitchen tool. This example’s small scale makes it particularly easy to incorporate into a shelf display.

Place it beside a favourite mug or a stack of cookbooks, where its silhouette can stand out against pale ceramics. It also works grouped with larger pie funnels, adding variety in height and shape.

A small piece of vintage kitchenalia and a thoughtful gift for someone who enjoys baking.
