An illustrated dust jacket, green cloth boards and botanical colour plates - a book worth opening as well as displaying.
Published by Adam & Charles Black in 1949, Richard Morse’s Introduction to Wild Flowers combines botanical reference with illustrations by Doris Meyer. Inside are 16 colour plates, 32 photographic plates and 16 plates from drawings. The original dust jacket carries the initials “CWB” and is attributed to British illustrator Cecil Walter Bacon.
Stand it beside simpler modern books to bring a graphic detail to a shelf, or lay it on a side table ready to browse. Its botanical illustrations offer plenty to explore, while the green binding provides a second way to display it with the jacket safely stored.
