A wonderfully charming Edwardian sewing accessory dating to 1902, featuring a delicate hallmarked silver mount spelling the word “Pins” in elegant script.
The lid sits atop a small celluloid (often called ivorine) pot, a material widely used in the late Victorian and Edwardian period as a lightweight imitation of ivory. This little container was designed to hold sewing pins and would originally have sat neatly upon a dressing table or sewing table.
Decorative pin pots like this were popular in the early 20th century, combining practicality with a touch of decorative charm.
