Britains 1950s Zoo Monkey Flat Lead Figure on Stand

A characterful 1950s Britains Zoo monkey in flat cast lead, presented on its original stand and posed with a playful expression and distinctive white collar detail.

Made by Britains Ltd as part of the Zoo Series, this figure belongs to a particularly interesting style of vintage animal modelling. Rather than being fully three dimensional, the monkey is formed as a flat silhouette mounted on a stand, giving it a graphic quality that is quite different from the more familiar Britains animal figures.
