A majestic 1950s Britains Zoo lion in flat cast lead, with a striking silhouette and an original green base now softened by a beautiful warm rose gold patina.

Made by Britains Ltd as part of the Zoo Series, this unusual style of animal figure was created as a flat silhouette mounted on a stand. The lion’s strong outline and distinctive profile give it an almost sculptural quality, with a simplicity that makes the character instantly recognisable.

Time has transformed much of the original painted surface into warm rose gold tones, creating a particularly beautiful aged patina. Rather than disguising the figure’s history, the mellowed finish gives it a sense of individuality and depth that only decades can create.
