Britains 1950s Zoo Buffalo Flat Lead Figure on Stand

A handsome 1950s Britains Zoo buffalo in flat cast lead, with a strong silhouette, original green stand and rich brown and black painted detail.

Made by Britains Ltd as part of the Zoo Series, this figure belongs to the distinctive flat silhouette style, where the character of an animal was captured through a carefully formed outline rather than a fully three dimensional model. The buffalo’s substantial profile gives it a particularly striking presence.

At 6 cm long and 3.5 cm high, it is one of the more substantial figures in this group. The original green stand complements the darker painted colouring, while the elongated form gives the animal a quiet sense of strength and dignity.
