Antique 1930s Black Forest Hand Carved Scottie Dog

A characterful 1930s Scottie dog, hand carved in wood in the Black Forest tradition, with dark staining, bead eyes and an appealingly expressive silhouette.

Dating from the 1930s, this little Scottie dog is a lovely example of traditional Black Forest wood carving. Hand carved from wood, his distinctive upright ears, sturdy form and tiny bead eyes give him plenty of personality despite his modest size.

The dark stained finish brings out the sculptural quality of the carving, while the individual variations in the wood give the figure the warmth and character associated with handmade folk art.
