A beautifully characterful antique Black Forest bear, hand carved in dark wood with expressive glass eyes and a naturally aged finish.
Dating from the 1920s to 1930s, this small seated bear is a lovely example of the traditional Black Forest carving associated with Switzerland. These woodland inspired carvings are admired for their craftsmanship, expressive forms and the warmth of natural wood.
The bear has plenty of personality despite its petite scale. His seated pose, individual markings and expressive glass eyes give him a wonderfully appealing character, while the rich dark wood has developed a lovely patina over the decades.
