1950s Britains Zoo Series Baby Elephant Flat Lead Figure

A rounded body and little trunk, captured in a compact flat silhouette.

This original 1950s baby elephant was made by Britains Ltd for its Zoo Series. Its flat cast form gives the figure a graphic quality, while the hand painted surface has softened with age.

At 4 cm long and 3 cm tall, it is a small piece with an instantly recognisable outline. It might recall a childhood animal set or simply appeal through a lasting affection for elephants.

Display it side on in a printer’s tray, small cabinet or miniature zoo scene to show the silhouette. Paired with natural wood and contemporary ceramics, its rounded shape adds a playful animal detail.

A British zoo miniature with a distinctive profile and a naturally aged finish.
