1930s Cadbury Cococub Silus Slink Fox Lead Figure, Britains

An unmistakably characterful little fox from the 1930s, with a wonderfully aged finish that speaks to his long history.

This original Silus Slink Fox figure was produced by Britains Ltd for Cadbury Bournville during the 1930s. Cast in lead and hand painted with dark colouring and red and white clothing details, Silus has a distinctive appearance and plenty of personality despite his small scale.

The Cococubs formed part of Cadbury’s imaginative advertising during the 1930s, with a cast of named characters created around the promotion of Cadbury cocoa. The miniature figures brought this colourful world to life while also showcasing the craftsmanship of early British lead figure making.

Silus has heavier wear to his original paint than some examples, giving the surface a wonderfully aged appearance. For me, this is part of his appeal: almost a century of age is visible in the little details, making him feel like a genuine survivor from another era rather than a pristine reproduction.

He would sit beautifully alongside other Cococub figures, vintage animal pieces or early British miniatures, adding a little fox character and a fascinating piece of Cadbury history to a shelf or cabinet.
