1930s Cadbury Cococub Mrs Cacklegoose Lead Figure, Britains

With her jaunty hat and wonderfully distinctive polka dot dress, Mrs Cacklegoose is one of the more eccentric characters in the Cadbury Cococub family.

This original Mrs Cacklegoose figure was produced by Britains Ltd for Cadbury Bournville during the 1930s. Hand painted in lead, she wears a striking red, black and white polka dot dress with matching details and a jaunty hat, giving her a wonderfully individual appearance.

The Cococubs formed part of Cadbury’s imaginative advertising during the 1930s, creating a cast of named characters around its cocoa products. Rather than simply being promotional pieces, the figures gave children something tangible to connect with the characters and brought a playful illustrated world into everyday life.

Mrs Cacklegoose is particularly appealing for her unusual design and strong period colouring. She would make an interesting addition to a collection of Cococubs or early British figures, and her distinctive appearance means she is equally at home amongst vintage toys or displayed as a small curiosity in her own right.

A wonderfully eccentric little survivor from 1930s British advertising, with plenty of personality in just a few centimetres.
