1930s Cadbury Cococub Monty Monkey Lead Figure, Britains

With his warm brown colouring and wonderfully playful pose, Monty Monkey is a little character who brings plenty of personality to a vintage display.

This original Monty Monkey figure was produced by Britains Ltd for Cadbury Bournville during the 1930s. Cast in hollow lead, his simple brown finish and lively pose give him an appealing sense of movement, despite his tiny scale.

The Cococubs were created around Cadbury’s cocoa advertising during the 1930s, bringing together a cast of named characters designed to capture the imagination of children. The figures were originally given away with Cadbury cocoa products, creating a world of miniature characters that could be collected and enjoyed.

Monty has retained much of his original painted finish, with light wear and minor paint loss consistent with his age. At just 3.5 cm tall, he is wonderfully small and would look particularly good displayed alongside other Cococubs, vintage animal figures or a collection of early British miniatures.

A playful little piece of 1930s Cadbury history, capturing the character and imagination of a bygone age.
