A miniature black crow with a storybook presence.
This original 1930s Dan Crow figure was made by Britains Ltd for Cadbury’s Cococub series. His hand painted black finish gives him a distinctive silhouette, with original painted details and surface wear reflecting his age.
The Cococub characters were created by British illustrator Ernest Aris. Issued in pre war Cadbury Bournville Cocoa tins, the figures brought his illustrated animals into everyday homes as part of Cadbury’s advertising.
At 4 cm tall, Dan brings a small dark accent to a bookshelf or cabinet. Set him against a pale background to show his outline, or pair him with old books, botanical artwork and contemporary pottery for a display with a slightly darker woodland feel.
A small piece of British advertising history that adds character without needing much space.
