1930s Cadbury Cococub Club Enamel Badge, Original

A small blue and white badge with a rather lovely history, once worn by a member of Cadbury’s imaginative Cococub Club.

This original Cococub Club badge dates from the 1930s and was issued to members of the Cadbury Cococub Club. Made in brass with blue and white enamel and gilt coloured detailing, it is a particularly attractive survivor from one of Cadbury’s most imaginative approaches to childhood advertising.

The Cococub Club created a world that children could become part of, with its own characters, magazines, competitions and collectables. A membership badge such as this would have been a tangible little symbol of belonging, connecting its young owner with the wider world of the Cococubs and Cadbury Bournville.

The badge has retained its original enamel decoration, with minor wear and age related marks that reflect its nearly ninety year history. At just 2.5 cm across, it is an understated piece of ephemera, but one with a fascinating connection to the experience of being a Cococub Club member.
