This original 1930s Peter Penguin was made by Britains for Cadbury, from a character designed by illustrator Ernest Aris. The Cococubs were originally included as gifts in pre-war tins of Cadbury’s Bournville Cocoa, bringing a cast of miniature animals into everyday homes. Peter’s hand painted outfit and upright silhouette give him a distinctive personality.
