A red and blue outfit, pink feet and an unmistakable pelican profile.
This original 1930s Pat Pelican figure was made in England by Britains Ltd for Cadbury’s Cococub series. His hand painted outfit contrasts with his pink beak and feet, giving this tiny lead figure a bold splash of colour.
The Cococub characters were created by illustrator Ernest Aris. Issued in pre war Cadbury Bournville Cocoa tins, the figures brought his illustrated animals into everyday homes as part of Cadbury’s advertising.
At just 3.5 cm tall, Pat brings an unexpected detail to a small cabinet, printer’s tray or shelf beside favourite books. Display him individually against a plain background to show his colours, or group him with other miniature animals.
A pocket sized piece of British advertising history with a distinctive presence.
