A tiny woodland squirrel with a warm reddish brown finish.
This original 1930s Nutty Squirrel figure was made by Britains for Cadbury’s Cococub series. Cast in hollow lead and hand painted, her small scale and expressive design reward a closer look.
The Cococub characters were created by British illustrator Ernest Aris. Issued in pre war Cadbury Bournville Cocoa tins, the figures brought his illustrated animals into everyday homes as part of Cadbury’s advertising.
At just 3.5 cm tall, Nutty Squirrel fits neatly into a printer’s tray or small display cabinet. Set her beside a vintage nature book, or pair her with woodland artwork and contemporary pottery for a subtle animal detail among larger pieces.
A miniature woodland accent with a story rooted in British advertising history.
