This original 1930s Freddie Frog was made by Britains Ltd for Cadbury, from a character designed by illustrator Ernest Aris. The Cococubs were originally included as gifts in pre-war tins of Cadbury’s Bournville Cocoa. Freddie’s green and brown paintwork defines his outfit and features, with light wear adding texture to the small hollow cast figure.
At 4 cm tall, he brings an unexpected character to a display niche or glazed cabinet. Place him beside books or a simple modern object, with enough space around him for the pose and painted details to stand out.
