1930s Britains Cadbury Cococub Dumpy Doo Duck Lead Figure

A memorable name and bright painted details give this miniature duck a playful presence.

This original 1930s Dumpy Doo Duck figure was made by Britains for Cadbury’s Cococub series. Cast in hollow lead and hand painted with yellow and red detailing, he retains an aged finish with softened colour and visible paint wear.

The Cococub characters were created by British illustrator Ernest Aris. Issued in pre war Cadbury Bournville Cocoa tins, the figures brought his illustrated animals into everyday homes as part of Cadbury’s advertising.

At 4 cm tall, Dumpy Doo Duck adds an unexpected detail to a bookshelf, printer’s tray or small cabinet. Display him beside plain contemporary pottery to pick out his painted colours, or include him in a miniature scene with other vintage animals.

A small piece of British advertising history with a distinctive storybook character.
