1930s Britains Cadbury Cococub Bill Badger Lead Figure

A miniature woodland badger with an upright pose and a timeworn painted finish.

This original 1930s Bill Badger figure was made by Britains Ltd for Cadbury’s Cococub series. Cast in hollow lead and hand painted, his distinctive stance gives him presence despite his small scale. The original paint shows wear and some flaking.

The Cococub characters were created by British illustrator Ernest Aris. Issued in pre war Cadbury Bournville Cocoa tins, the figures brought his illustrated animals into everyday homes as part of Cadbury’s advertising.

At just 3.5 cm tall, Bill fits neatly into a small cabinet or printer’s tray. Display him beside a vintage wildlife book, or pair him with woodland artwork and contemporary pottery to introduce a small storybook detail.

A British woodland character with a history beyond his miniature proportions.
