A chestnut horse with slender proportions, a relaxed stance and a small pink nose.
This original 1920s standing horse was made by John Hill & Co and bears the stamp “COPYRT HILL & CO ENGLAND”. The hand painted chestnut finish picks out its modelled shape, with the pink nose adding an individual detail.
At 7.5 cm long and 4.5 cm tall, it sits between the tiny farm animals and larger Shire horses in scale. Its familiar subject might recall a childhood toy farm, a favourite horse or time spent around stables.
Display it beside equestrian books, within a miniature farm scene or among contemporary ceramics. The warm brown colouring pairs naturally with timber and pale textiles, while its simple stance makes it easy to appreciate on its own.
An early British horse miniature with a maker’s mark and well preserved painted character.
