A lovely little 1920s Britains laying dog figure in hand painted lead, with black and white colouring and a small collar detail that gives this tiny farmyard character plenty of personality.
Made by Britains Ltd during the early years of its miniature animal figures, this little dog captures the simplicity and character of traditional rural models. The relaxed laying pose feels particularly natural, bringing a sense of everyday farmyard life to a figure measuring just 3 cm long.
The hand painted finish shows the individual character of an early Britains figure, with gentle paint loss adding to its genuine sense of age. Despite its tiny scale, the simple black and white colouring and carefully formed shape make the dog immediately recognisable.
Dating from the 1920s, it is a lovely survivor from the early period of British lead figure making and a particularly appealing piece for anyone drawn to the quieter, more familiar characters of the traditional farmyard.
A tiny piece of British toy history with a wonderfully peaceful presence.
