A characterful tiny 1920s Britains cockerel in hand painted lead, finished in bright yellow with a proud standing pose and plenty of early farmyard charm.
Measuring just 2.5 cm long and 1.5 cm high, this little cockerel has an appealing presence despite his minute scale. His upright stance gives him a lively quality, while the simple yellow finish adds a cheerful touch of colour.
Made by Britains Ltd during the 1920s, this early farm figure reflects the company’s tradition of recreating familiar countryside animals in remarkably small scale. The hand painted surface has naturally worn over the years, giving the cockerel a softly aged patina and an authentic sense of history.
His tiny proportions make him a particularly lovely example of the smaller Britains farm birds, especially when seen alongside other early figures from the series. There is something wonderfully appealing about the simplicity of these early miniatures and the rural world they represent.
A tiny piece of 1920s farmyard history, with a proud little stance and genuine vintage character.
