The blackbird decoration stands out against its creamy glaze, bringing an illustrated wildlife motif to a practical baking form. Originally designed to release steam from a pie, it combines everyday function with the individuality of studio pottery.

Place it among everyday crockery or beside a favourite cookery book, where the painted birds invite a closer look. Its cream and black palette sits easily alongside simple modern ceramics, adding detail without introducing a strong new colour.

Details & dimensions

Handmade ceramic pie funnel
Maker: Stuart Bass, Devon, England
Signed “S Bass”
Cream glaze with hand painted blackbird decoration
Intended for decorative display or light use

Height: approximately 8.5 cm
Width: approximately 5 cm

Condition

Excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks.
