Its compact shape and simple modelling capture a familiar farmyard animal, with areas of paint loss recording years of handling.

For anyone drawn to rural life, it might recall sheep dotted across a hillside or the miniature animals of a childhood toy farm. Its small scale makes it a personal detail to enjoy up close.

Display it in a printer’s tray, a small cabinet or alongside other animals in a farm diorama. The pale colouring works well against dark wood or a painted backdrop, while its modest size allows it to sit among books and pottery.

An early British farm miniature with a simple form and an aged painted finish.

Details & dimensions

Type: Miniature farm animal figure
Maker: Britains Ltd
Animal: Sheep
Era: 1920s
Material: Lead
Finish: Hand painted
Colours: Beige and white

Height: 2.5 cm
Width: 1 cm
Length: 4 cm

Contains lead and may contain small parts.
